Our technique focused adult swim training group is designed to support a wide range of abilities, offering expert guidance and workouts tailored to everyone from those learning the basics to experienced triathletes refining their technique. Through open water season and beyond, consistent pool work can be a key to maintaining strong mechanics and efficient form. Each session includes focused technique work, with aerobic elements—designed to meet you where you are and help you build toward where you want to be. Whether you’re new to triathlon or training for your next PR, you’ll leave each session feeling stronger, more efficient, and more prepared for race day.

new curriculum for winter 2026

Weeks 1-5: essential freestyle skills

  • OPEN WATER SKILLS: drafting, turning, sighting and general safety considerations

  • Breathing

  • Alignment/ body position/ body line

  • Reach pattern + pull pattern

  • Rotation

  • The catch

  • Aerobic development in various ranges

Weeks 6-9 (NEW!): multi-path options

Each week, swimmers can choose to continue progressing through an advancing freestyle curriculum or branch out to focus on other strokes, starts, and turns. Each pathway is designed to build skill, confidence, and efficiency in the water while keeping lessons engaging and goal-oriented.

 

The Details

Dates: 1/11, 1/18, 1/25, 2/1, 2/8, 2/15, 2/22, 3/8, 3/22

Time: Sundays, 12:30-1:30 pm

Location: Saline High School Pool

Suggested Equipment: swim snorkel, swim fins, kick board (OUR RECOMMENDATIONS)

Prerequisite: swimmers should be able to safely swim a minimum of 50 yards in deep water without support.
